Tips for Finding Scholarships
When you are a non-traditional student, one of the main concerns you have is finding the money to pay for college. It often seems that all scholarships are aimed at graduating high-school seniors, but this is really not the case. Often, we seek out the big scholarships that have a lot of competition for awards, while forgetting about smaller local scholarships that might be up for grabs. Don't forget that if you can win a few of these smaller awards, you can greatly reduce your college costs as much as if you won a single large scholarship. I managed to win some of these smaller awards myself, and was thrilled about winning one every time. When you're strapped for cash, a $1000 scholarship or bursary goes a long ways!
In this video, Kim Stezala from Scholarship Street reminds us of some often overlooked sources for scholarship money. Scholarships won't fall into your lap without some detective work on your part, and Kim gives some great tips on how to find these scholarships. Good luck to you on your scholarship search!
