FAFSA to be Simplified?

Anyone who has ever filled out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form knows what kind of a nightmare it is. It is full of redundant, idiotic questions, especially if you are an adult student. Ummm, we are paying our own way, so why do we have to fill out questions about our parents' financial assets?

At last, it looks like some action is being taken to ease students burden filling out this horrendous form. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is proposing to eliminate some of the redundant questions, as well as change the form to include financial information already supplied to the IRS with a single click. There already has been some improvements in simplying the form for low-income students that was passed in the Higher Education Opportunity Act.  Now, a two-page EZ FAFSA form is available for some low-income families.
