Don’t get stuck dreaming, but not doing. Don’t fall into the trap of having goals, but never doing anything to achieve them.  It’s great to dream and plan, but dreams without taking action are meaningless. To see dreams and goals amount to anything, you have to step out of your comfort zone and take action.

It’s so much harder to gather your courage and begin than to stay in that safe, yet staid place. In fact, it’s so difficult that most people end their dreams in this stage. “It’s not meant to be right now,” is how you’ll justify why to never to start the journey of being a back-to-school mom. You'll think to yourself, “Maybe when my kids are grown up. Maybe when my spouse gets a better job, then I can begin.” The excuses are endless. You’ll resign yourself to be satisfied with a mediocre life, if you’re too afraid to start, too afraid to even try.

But what if you could just break through that fear? Is it really fear of failure or fear of success that’s holding you back? Are you afraid to take the plunge and sign up for classes because that would mean that you are finally putting yourself first; that if you succeed your friends and family won’t look at you the same way? Maybe, in their eyes, maybe you’ve always been the quiet one, the silly one, the mousy one, the cheerful one? If you sign up for classes, you’d be conveying to them that you are a serious person, with serious goals and the commitment to make those goals happen. Yes, it’s frightening when you shed the skin of other people’s expectations. Maybe you’ll leave some people behind that can’t or won’t accept the new you. That’s okay; don’t be held back by trying to conform to the person everyone thinks you are.

If you start, you’ll find that you have to push yourself so hard, harder than you’ve ever pushed yourself before. It's like pushing a huge boulder that outweighs you several times over. It’s such hard work getting that boulder rolling that you think there’s no way you can ever push it to your destination. Suddenly, after all that pushing, you begin to build momentum. The boulder is starting to roll on its own. It’s not always going to be as hard as it is in the beginning. You’ll build success upon success, gaining confidence in your own abilities. The pushing gets much easier the longer and more skilfully you do it.

If you’re willing to work harder, longer, and take the biggest risk of your life, you can have that success, that applause, that diploma that tells the world what an accomplished person you have become. You, and only you will have earned it. All because you dared to do more than just dream.
