What would be the best laptop?
I am applying for an associates degree in web design & interactive media.(Online college) If I am accepted I would like to get a better laptop. I currently have a compaq presario c700 and I need something better more memory, faster. What would be a better laptop? The requirements are:

    * PC: As a general guideline, students should not have computer specifications less than a Pentium 4 CPU, Windows XP with Service Pack 2, and 1 GB of RAM. Also, a DVD-ROM drive may be required.

    * Mac: As a general guideline, students should not have computer specifications less than a G4 processor, MAC OSX, and 1 GB of RAM. Also, a DVD-ROM drive may be required.

  2. Matt says:

Your laptop is already above and beyond the requirements; it uses a 1.73GHz dual core CPU and has 2GB RAM. If you upgraded to another laptop you would only see a small boost in performance. Actually, during normal use, it probably wouldn’t even be noticeable at all.

ASUS laptops fail the least when compared against any other manufacturer, and HP/Compaq fail the most. Dell is somewhere in the middle, along with Lenovo. Acer has high failure rates as well.

That being said, if you did look for a new laptop, you should check Newegg’s ASUS laptops that have dual core processors running @ 2.20GHz or more. I put a link below that might help to get you started. Otherwise, I’d recommend trying to find the cause of your laptop running slowly; maybe too many startup processes — which can be disabled with msconfig — or some malware running in the background which can be removed with Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.

Is it true you can get a lot of jobs with a bachelor’s degree having nothing to do with what you studied?
I asked this question before but got only 2 answers that didn’t anwer my question..

My sister is applying for a co-manager position at a bank. She has a degree where she studied Spanish, and the requirement for the job at the bank requires a Bachelor’s Degree with no specification what field.

I am getting my associate’s degree winter quarter in Interactive Media. I don’t really like my field anymore but have found a good job for my age. Should I continue for a Bachelor’s Degree so I can have more opportunities even if I don’t have a passion for Interactive Media anymore?
So should I continue my education towards a Bachelor’s Degree anywyas? I’m thinking about it…even though I don’t like my field as much any more

There is nothing wrong with it; it is just too long. It is advisable to have a resume that consists of 1 page. Try to shorten some items, you might even want to delete some (the ones that have nothing to do with the job that you are applying to). Keep only the ones that are relevant to the position you are applying. Also, look into creating a cover letter, they always make good impressions on employers (google for “sample cover letter”). Good luck!

All of what follows is only my opinion:

I looked quickly, and the only thing I saw was your use of the word “I” under some responsibilities.

Also (I looked a bit further), in some you said: Duties include… Keep consistent – in some words, you end with -ing. Others ended in -ed. I also noticed some verb tenses are present; others are past. Spacing is off, but that may come from the cut and paste. Instead of “Security Officer 02/25/2004 Until present.” Just list the different jobs as they appear to be in different places. I am not sure I would include the Home Maintenance.

    I’d better stop there.
