Associates Degrees Guide
Earning a degree online is becoming more and more popular. The flexibility online courses offer benefits the student greatly. Those looking to get an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) online can take advantage of the benefits and flexibility an online course of study has to offer.
When earning your ADN online, you complete the non-clinical courses online. Clinical classes must be completed at a medical facility. There are no online ADN programs which allow you to fully complete your degree online.
To find schools that offer an Associates Degree in Nursing online, you will need to do a little research on the Internet. On one of the reliable search engines, type in the key words that will help you find schools you are interested in. At the very least you should type in the words “Associates Degree Nursing Online.” You may also want to type in the name of the state or states that you would like your program to be in.
The search engine will present you with links to many online schools. Spend some time looking at a number of them to see if they offer what you are looking for.

Find out when you can start. Some online programs have rolling enrollment, meaning you can start at any point. Others have a designated start date.
Find out if your will have an academic advisor. Most likely you will, but it is important that you are assigned one. The advisor will work with you closely to help you plan out your course of study, help keep you on track, connect you with other students, and coordinate your clinical classes.
Find out the costs of the program. All programs will charge different tuition. A thorough search of different programs will help you find the one that is right for you and the most affordable.
Find out if the school offers financial aide. Many online programs do. You may want to take advantage of it.
Find out where you will be able to perform your clinical courses. Make sure the facility is one that is within a reasonable distance for you.
Once you have done your research, you can narrow your choices down to a few online schools and begin the application process for your Associates Degree in Nursing.

Are the exams for the Associates in Business Management through Penn Foster mutliple choice?
I am currently enrolled in the Business Management Certificate program and love it. I am moving VERY quickly and am strongly considering pursuing my Associates degree through Penn Foster. I was wondering if anyone has done the Associates program and if so if it is like the Certificate program. Basically, you get your text books through the mail along with a Study Guide. You take exams that are multiple choice. Is this how the Associates Program works? Thanks.
Can anyone help me with deciding a career?
I am asking for help from anyone who can help guide me to the best possible career for me. I want to find an online college that offers an associates degree in health and nutrition for children. I want to go work for my local Children’s Medical Center, or If I can’t get there, then I want to work with children. Children make me happy and they make me laugh. Having a career working with them would make my life less stressful and I hope I can make a really good living by doing that. I have looked and looked for online colleges, and haven’t seen any that offer associate degrees in wellness and nutrition(or health). I have seen respiratory, occupational, and physical therapist assistant degrees, but I am afraid those are hard to understand careers. So If anyone can help me pinpoint what is out there for me, or give me free career counseling, I would appreciate it. I hope to hear back with answers.

How long does it take to get your associates degree in Register nursing?
I heard only two yrs then I heard 4 yrs Please guide me in right direction and if you know about online classes explain how that works
There are many different “levels” of nursing degrees. What you seem to be interested in, becoming an RN (Registered Nurse) is a two-year program. It’s extremely competitive and very hard to get into an RN program anywhere. Advanced science courses, usually in chemistry, biology, and physics, as well as math courses, are necessary (usually with a “B” or better) before you can even apply for the two year program. Then usually you have a few hundred people applying for a program that only has, on average, about 20 seats available, so expect the competition to be fierce. A two year RN program can NOT be completed online, as most of the classes require in-person labs and, in the second year, 90% of your classwork is clinical, meaning you’re working on patients in hospitals, nursing homes, etc. under an instructor’s supervision. The program also requires complete full time dedication; RN’s do not have a part time option for schooling. Their studies are conducted five days a week, sometimes more than eight hours a day, there’s homework on top of that and most programs advise their students not to work while in the program.
There is a four-year nursing degree (BSN = Bachelor of Science in Nursing). In order to obtain a BSN, you first need to have your RN, and some schools require you to have been a practicing RN for a certain period of time. A BSN typically doesn’t require clinicals, so the majority of the program CAN be completed online (in fact, some schools conduct the entire program online). The difference between having a BSN and RN isn’t huge; sometimes it’s a matter of making a little more money, and some institutions that teach nursing allow people to teach with a BSN. (Others require a master’s). You also need a BSN if you want to become a nurse practitioner or a midwife, etc. – those are masters programs that usually require a BSN. Typically, though, if your ultimate goal is just to work as an RN, there’s no need to go to school longer than two years – you’ll have a great salary and no problems finding jobs as an RN with an associates degree.
What does get a little confusing, though, is that there are some four-year schools out there that do offer a regular RN degree. Most of these programs run only about three years though, might add some extra gen. ed courses.. and ultimately you’ll come out with the same education as a two-year RN.
LPN is also a one-year program (Licensed Practical Nurse)… it’s a great program, a little less intense than RN, and anyone who is not sure how they’d do in the RN program can get a taste of nursing by becoming an LPN first, then going ahead w/the RN degree if they like the work.. not sure if that’d apply to you or not, just thought I’d give you all the info
I wish you all the best in nursing school – it’s a great profession!
