A Truly Awesome Online School:Western Governors University

Like me, you probably have never heard about Western Governors University before now. I have been researching online schools to see which ones provide the best bang for the buck for us back-to school moms. I was blown away by the quality and affordability of Western Governors University.

WGU is a private, non-profit university that is entirely based online. Instead of charging tuition by number of credit hours of study like most colleges and universities, WGU charges a flat-rate tutition every six months.(Currently, basic tuition is charged at $2890.00 per six month term.) Here is a comparison of WGU's tuition rates compared to other online schools.

WGU is fully accredited, and is the only online school accredited by NCATE, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

WSU is competency based, so you can receive credit for knowledge you've received outside the classroom. This means that if you already have competency in an area, you don't have to take another expensive course . As well, you can work as quickly or as slowly as you like, mastering the competencies at your own pace. If you have the time and energy, you can accelerate your degree and finish in far less time than at a traditional university.
